Charanda is technically Rum. This sugar cane distillate from the state of Michoacan is full of flavour and as rich in tradition as the soil in which the high altitude sugar plantations are grown.  Charanda is what locals call the type of soil in the region, rich in minerals and a beautiful burnt orange aspect making it unique enough to attract its on denomination of origin, hence the name Charanda and not 'Mexican Rum'.
