Nuestra Soledad Mezcales showcases the unique terroir and distillation traditions of six different villages within the Valles Centrales (Central Valley) region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Each expression showcases the diversity of Mexico's most prevalent Agave varietal used for Mezcal production, Espadin.
San Baltazar Guelavila is a small town in the district of Tlacolula, located in the east of the Valles Centrales (Central Valleys) region of Oaxaca. Agave Espadin has been cultivated in these highlands for over one hundred years. The Espadín used for this Mezcal grows at around five thousand five hundred feet on mountainous terrain with heavy limestone deposits within its rich and fertile soil. These growing conditions produce concentrated sugars that results in a refined Espadín full of complexity. The Agaves are roasted in pit ovens with mesquite and oak before Fermenting in open-air tanks and then double-distilled in copper alembic stills which results in a palette of freshly roasted agave, sweet tropical fruit, white pepper and minerality with a rich and round mouthfeel that leaves excellent length.
