Finish: Oxacan clay with glazed interior
Maestro Vicente Hernandez was born in Magdalena Jaltepec, the Mixteca region of the state of Oaxaca. His father migrated to the city when he was 3.
He was started on pottery at age 9. It was after visiting a pottery workshop on the outskirts of Oaxaca; after seeing how the pieces were crafted from clay he was inspired by the creativity and pushed to dream that one day he could do the same.
At the age of 14 he obtained the title of official pottery master, a very special title in the industry, especially for a 14 year old. That is when Vicente began his work innovating pieces, perfecting his technique, designs, shapes, colours, always aiming to dream and express his feeling through his work.
His first workshop "Greca de Sol" was founded in 1998 with his family, later on their opened the the gallery "Tierra Quemada" in 2003 in downtown Oaxaca.
They rescue ancestral pieces and apply them to contemporary ceramics shaping unique and utilitarian works of art, lead free!
